[Properties]
White needle-like crystal, easy deliquescence and agglomeration, soluble in water and slight soluble in alcohol; decompose to ammonia and ammonium bifluoride in heat water, decompose to ammonia and hydrogen fluoride when being heated, its aqueous solution is acidic and can corrode glass.
[Uses]
It is used as etching agent for engraved glass, antiseptic agent and disinfectant, solvent in producing metal beryllium using beryllium oxide, analytic reagent and surface treating agent of silicon steel plate; also used as oxidant in producing ceramic and aluminum-magnesium alloy, cleaning agent in steam generation system of boiler's water supply system, fluorizating agent in organic synthesis, reagent in extracting rare element from electroplating solution.
